PLEASE SUPPORT MY GOAL FOR GUIDE DOGS

I've gone barking mad and I'm taking part in my FIRST PAWGUST challenge to raise funds for Blind Low Vision NZโ€™s guide dogs. ๐Ÿฆฎย

Rain, hail or shine, this August I will be covering the Kmโ€™s with Layla and Friends, Every. Single. Day!! ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ Our first goal is Helicopter Hill ๐Ÿš

I will be frequently uploading puppy pics, proof of Kmโ€™s covered through Strava, and some of Canterburyโ€™s prettiest peaks, as Layla and I will also be challenging ourselves to complete as many of the Mountain Dog Challenge peaks during the month of August! ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

This includes;

Mt Oxford, Mt Grey, Mt Thomas, Helicopter Hill, Panama Rock, Rabbit Hill, Mt Barossa, Foggy Peak, and Mt Isobel. ๐ŸŒ„

*Did you know it costs in excess of $100,000 to breed, raise and train just ONE Guide Dog?! And with thousands of dogs being trained each year, every dollar counts. I need your help so that together, we can create a world where everyone who needs a Guide Dog, has a Guide Dog.*

Please consider supporting me by making a small donation to support my challenge. Every cent goes appreciated!ย

(Any Kmโ€™s Strava logs before August 1st, will be reset from August 1st.)

Thank you from, Theย Griffiths Pack ๐Ÿ•

Willows Walk with Reid and Lance ๐Ÿ•

This morning Layla and I had a our first snowfall experience ever! Layla thoroughly enjoyed catching snowballs and playing fetch. The snow only lasted 20 minutes before the sun came out but we made the most of it! Later on double trouble Lance and Layla then had a blast zooming through the trees at the Willows. Layla tired from our hike up Helicopter Hill yesterday. But so happy to see her best friend Lance ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’– 30.5kms/125kms down!

Helicopter Hill with Alicya ๐Ÿš

Our second entry for Pawgust is an epic middle-earth hike up Helicopter Hill in Arthurs Pass. 8.55km distance with 757m in elevation gain with a total of 1,200m above sea level. The wind threatened to blow us off the summit, hence the earless hounds. Featuring Aero, Whispa and Layla ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’จ First of the nine peaks, from our mountain dog challenge competed! Go team!

Day One - Lake Emma

Day One of Pawgust, Starting Strong! We drove out to Lake Emma in the Ashburton district with the Hubs and Layla! Layla braved through multiple small river crossings, snow patches and loyally followed us through some of the boggy marshland in our endeavor to take the unmarked scenic route around the top of the Lake. Shortly followed by Plan B, a short double back and we found ourselves several kilometers down the way. Layla is a true Griffiths and showed no signs of slowing down, she did amazingly. We stopped for multiple short breaks to make sure everyone was hydrated and that our navigator was indeed still on track. We trotted across the finish line with a sum total of 15.49Kms under our belt and 22,782 steps in 3hrs and 8 minutes. Go team!! ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’จ
